IAIN Delavan

David Iain Delavan, known simply as Iain Delavan, was born June 30th, 2002 in Morristown, New Jersey.

Iain came of age under a difficult set of circumstances, enduring formative trauma that would ultimately shape the core of his artistic identity. Iain since has learned to channel a wide berth of emotions and symptoms into film, music, painting, writing, and composition— building a body of work rooted in lived experience and emotional honesty.

When he was 18 years old, he moved to Pittsburgh on his own with no safety net and worked to improve his own circumstances through part-time and full-time jobs, having up to three jobs at the same time.

For a few years, he strived to build his portfolio, working with local students, rising artists in local scenes, and young budding creatives. He made connections and increased his professional gravity by interning at Carnegie Mellon University's International Film Festival and the Los Angeles-based record label, NVAK Collective.

The hustle continued as Iain faced hefty financial strain and PTSD symptoms, but Iain persevered and continued to make powerful work that went on to win awards at film festivals such as the Tokyo International Short Film Festival, the Seoul Short Film Festival, and the Bronze Lens Film Festival in Atlanta.

Iain pours his heart and soul into his music, his film, his writings, and his poetry, and will continue to do so as long as he has a functioning heart and soul.
